The Newnex FireNEX-CAT5-S800 is an IEEE1394b compliant repeater for long distance
connections. Capable of sending IEEE1394b signals across a regular Cat5e or Cat6 cables at a data rate of
800 Mbps (1394b) up to 100 meters in length! The FireNEX-CAT5-S800 is contained within a small box slightly larger than a deck of cards, which makes it unobtrusive and compact, allowing you to place it on a desktop already crowded with other things.
Setting up the FireNEX-CAT5-S800 is easy! It only takes minutes, and like all IEEE1394 compliant
hardware... there is no configuration necessary! Just connect a Cat5e or
Cat6 twisted pair cable
between the two units, connect your FireWire devices and power up! The FireNEX-CAT5-S800
is compatible with both 1394a (FireWire 400) and 1394b (FireWire 800) signals at speeds up to
800 Mbps.
A FireNEX-CAT5-S800 "set" is a pair of FireNEX-CAT5-S800 repeaters, and
the user manual. Innovative design allows the units to be bus
powered (from the connected equipment). A built in DC power jack lets you connect an optional power
supply if connecting to devices that do not supply power through the FireWire
interface (sold below). The Newnex FireNEX-CAT5-S800 comes with one-year manufacturer warranty.
