The ND-1100A combines all the advantages of a DVD+R, DVD+RW, and a CD-RW in a single drive. Saving valuable drive bay space in your computer for later expansion. The drive also features the Active Optimum Power Controller (ACTOPC).  Continuously monitoring the signal level during recording, it adjusts laser power to compensate when a disc is dirty, improving the quality of recording.

The NEC ND-1100A is an internal ATAPI/IDE interface drive that writes to several recordable media formats, including DVD+R/+RW and CD-R/RW.  With an industry leading 4X DVD+R and 2.4X DVD+RW speed, the NEC ND-1100A quickly burns an hour's worth of video in less than 15 minutes. Plus, CD recording is also simple and fast with 16x CD-R (write), 10x CD-RW (rewrite) and 40x CD (read) speeds.

About DVD+RW/+R

DVD+RW is a direct descendant of CD-R/RW and has been promoted by the DVD+RW Alliance, formed by companies that have played a central role in the promotion of CD-R/RW. With a large storage capacity of 4.7GB, DVD+RW supports stress-free fast writing and free appending/editing even after data has been recorded.  DVD+RW is well suited to applications where data may need to be freely overwritten in everyday use, such as for storing data or making DVD-Videos, and can be used for almost all applications. 

On the other hand, DVD+R has been developed for those instances where important data should never be erased or data is to be distributed/exchanged and compatibility is extremely important.
