TECH NOTE
FireWire WebCams are powered by the FireWire Bus. Most laptop computers and
CardBus PC card adapters for laptops do not supply Bus power. Exceptions
are the cards listed below. These CardBus and EpressCard cards have a built-in power jack, which when used with the optional
power supply provides Bus power allowing use of FireWire WebCams as well as
other Bus powered FireWire devices such as portable hard drives.
Additionally you may provide FireWire Bus power to a
FireWire WebCam using a powered FireWire Hub:
