Based on dual chip architecture from Silicon Image and Intel, this x8 PCI Express card is an extremely fast SATA host adapter with four eSATA II 3Gb/s ports. Compatible with Apple Mac Pro, Power Mac G5 Dual-core (Late 2005) or any Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista PC equipped with an x8 PCI-e slot! Supports SATA direct connect of up to 4 external SATA drives or use with SATA Port Multiplier enclosures and connect up to 20 hard drives!

*Support for 20 drives requires the use of drive enclosures employing port multipliers like the 5-Bay SATA Port Multiplier Enclosure, Trayless or Sonnet's Fusion 500P. When using enclosures without a port multiplier, the controller will support up to 4 drives.

    • In tests using 5 SATA II hard drives striped (RAID 0) in a port multiplier enclosure, the card produced sustained reads of 234MB/s with writes of 212MB/s!

    Not compatible with G5s having PCI-X slots. If you are not sure what type of slots you have, check your manual.

*non-RAID BIOS - also known as JBOD BIOS, Base BIOS or Port Multiplier (each drive shows to the operating system as a separate volume or drive letter)
