The enclosure design includes a high performance SATA II port multiplier (Silicon Image SiI-3726) and connects to a SATA host controller card through a single port*.  Connect up to 5 drives to your computer with just a single eSATA cable!  Auto-negotiation for 3Gb/s and 1.5Gb/s drives, so installation is as simple as securing the drives to the trays. 

Start out with a single drive for simple data storage, or fill the enclosure with five drives to create up to a huge 10 Terabyte striped RAID array.  Combine two or more enclosures for uncompressed 10-bit HD video capture and editing!  Connect up to four enclosures to a SATA Port Multiplier compatible host controller like the eSATA 4 Port SATA II PCI-X RAID Controller, Sonnet Tempo SATA E4P or Sonnet Tempo SATA X4P host controller to create the ultimate storage solution—using 2TB drives, you'll have 40TB of data storage!
