ezRAID3 - eSATA and USB 2.0 RAID Enclosure for SATA Hard Drives

Fast - Intelligent - Flexible
ezRAID3 is a great solution for anyone who needs a fast, reliable and easy to use storage system.  With just the push of a button you can easily configure the unit as two individual drives, RAID 1 (mirror), RAID 0 (stripe) and more! No drivers needed for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Macs or Linux systems!

Based upon the high performance Silicon Image SiI-5744 SteelVine storage controller, the ezRAID3 accommodates two SATA hard drives and allows you to connect them to your computer using a USB or eSATA port.  A true hardware based storage solution, the ezRAID3 requires no software installation.  Just slide in your two SATA hard drives, set the RAID type with the configuration switch and plug it into a eSATA or USB port!

  • Two hot-swappable 3.5" drive bays
  • eSATA and USB 2.0 compatible
  • Tray-less Drive Mounting for fast and easy drive swapping
  • Compatible with all 3.5" SATA I (Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s) and SATA II (Serial ATA 3Gb/s) Hard Drives
  • Built-in hardware RAID controller for SATA drives
  • No software drivers needed
  • Supports RAID 0, RAID 1, Spanning, JBOD and more
  • Built-in universal power supply
  • Works with Macs, Windows or Linux computers - any computer with a functioning eSATA or USB 2.0 port

RAID 0 - Striping (Fast)
Set to RAID 0, the ezRAID3 splits the data and writes to both SATA hard drives at the same time, moving data at double the speed of a single drive.  RAID 0 combines both disks into one volume...i.e. two 1000GB (1TB) drives are seen by the computer as a single 2 Terabyte drive!

RAID 1 - Mirroring (Reliable)
When the ezRAID3 is set to RAID 1, all of your data is simultaneously written to both SATA hard drives, creating a backup (or mirror) of your data on the 2nd drive. In the event one hard drive fails, the ezRAID3 will continue to function, reading and writing from the good drive. Once a new hard drive is installed, the ezRAID3 will do an automatic background rebuild of the data to the new drive.

Spanning - Concatenation (One Big Drive)
Spanning, like RAID 0 (striping) uses both disks as one volume. But unlike RAID 0 which writes a little data to each drive in turn, spanning writes to one disk until it is full and then begins on the next disk.  Spanning is typically used if you have hard drives of different sizes but would like to treat them as one volume.

JBOD - Just a Bunch of Drives (Individual Drives)
When set to JBOD, the ezRAID3 configures your drives as two separate drives.  Each hard drive shows up separately to the Operating System.  Handy for users that need to use separate drives, but only want to use a single eSATA or USB port to connect them.

SAFE50 and SAFE33
These multi-RAID modes present a more efficient way to keep your critical data safe and increase drive capacity at the same time!  SAFE50 creates two volumes across two drives, with half of each physical drive being allocated to each volume. One volume is in SAFE mode (RAID 1) and the other is in BIG (Concatenated) mode. SAFE33 also creates two volumes, but with 1/3 of physical space being dedicated to SAFE mode and 2/3 to BIG mode. These modes offer a balance between protection of critical data and maximization of space for non-critical data.
