NEW! Added DVD themes: DVD Architect Studio software, which is included with Vegas Movie Studio software, has 44 ready-to-use DVD themes that make DVD creation easy and fun.

Keyframeable real-time effects with preview: Vegas Movie Studio software includes over 290 video effects and more than 185 2D and 3D video transitions to enhance your movies. All of the video effects are keyframeable: you can set the specific video frame where an effect begins and the frame where it stops working. You can even specify the level of effect for every frame in between. To see how your effects and transitions in action, Vegas Movie Studio software lets you preview effects and transitions in real time at full resolution on your computer monitor or on a secondary monitor.

Ken Burns Effect: Named for the American documentary filmmaker who pioneered the technique, the Ken Burns Effect gives life to still images in your movies by slowly zooming-in on subjects of interest and panning from one subject to another. Vegas Movie Studio software let you achieve effects like this with easy-to-use keyframeable Pan and Crop tools. Easily zoom in or out, pan and scan, and rotate pictures in any direction to create dynamic slide shows and movies with a professional feel.

New! Envelope brush “paint” tool: Track envelopes such as audio volume and pan, and video composite levels are customized via points over time. The envelope brush tool provides user with the ability to “paint” an envelope curve over time by holding down the shift key. This provides a quick way to “outline” the general shape of the envelope without placing and modifying many distinct points. The “auto-thinning” feature provides a mathematical approximation of the drawn curve with as few points as possible. The resulting points can be further optimized independently.

Fade and compositing envelopes: Use envelopes modify fade and compositing over time on the video tracks.

Volume and pan envelopes: On the audio tracks you can use envelopes to modify both volume and pan over time.

This explorer view prevents users from opening a separate file explore window to utilize to locate and find media with. Furthermore, the explorer window filters out media that is incompatible with the software to help ensure that media selected will work on the timeline.

Project media bins: Media bins allow users to easily search through and organize their media, making movie and DVD creation easier and more efficient.

Track markers and regions: Track markers and regions are excellent organizational elements as well as helpful tools for marking important points of reference on the timeline.

New! Improved snapping: Vegas Movie Studio 8 software offers more object “snapping” options than previous versions. The new snapping option allows snapping to events on any track. In addition color-coded snap indicators denote a snap object type; marker, region, event, cursor, grid Complex projects involving multiple tracks with each containing several events prove difficult and tedious to precise align events placement. By providing more snap objects across all tracks, precise event placement is simplified.

New! Enhanced video preview options full-screen preview to a secondary Windows display: Vegas Movie Studio 8 software enhances the preview experience by provide functionality to view the timeline on both an internal monitor and an external device (or secondary display) simultaneously. In additional preview window enhancements included new scaling options and “Auto-fit” to preview window. Preview options provide solutions to common viewing requests, with auto-fit providing a maximum viewing effort for the space available.

CD audio extraction: Extract songs from your own CDs to use in your movie and slide show projects.

Unlimited undo/redo: Use undo and redo as many times as you want.

Audio and video time stretching: Audio and video events can be shortened or lengthened over time. Stretch your soundtrack to fit certain lengths of video or images without having to redo or modify your project. Video can be stretched or shortened to highlight a particular segment or to create surreal fast-forward effects.

Unlimited media clips per track: More complex audio productions and music compositions can be created by using multiple media types, and this also saves track real estate.

Audio track buffering: On multiprocessor or multi-core computers, processing is distributed evenly across all CPUs on a system increasing playback performance.

New! View media marker names in events: Media used in the timeline may contain markers. This product can enable the display of these media markers directly on the timeline event. Individual media will have individual markers. By displaying the individual media markers on the explicit media event and editor can quickly focus on key points of interest with out cluttering the entire timeline workspace.

New! Multi-threaded audio engine: The multi-threaded audio engine is an optimized system that takes advantage of new multi-core and hyper-threading computer systems to fully utilize available hardware resources. By leveraging the full capabilities of the hardware and reducing direct CPU load, users will benefit from a greater number of tracks and audio/video effects for real-time preview, improved performance at lower latencies, and faster audio render times.

ACID loop support: For easy video scoring and audio mixing, Vegas Movie Studio software has ACID® loop support. ACID loops are royalty-free music samples that contain special metadata which allows them to automatically match the existing project tempo and key.
